Getting my Facility Cryo- Ready
What do I need for starting my business? This is one of the first questions to be asked by business owners. Anyone who is looking into cryotherapy has this on their mind. Small business owners in gyms and salons ask this question often. Cryo chambers can be a very profitable addition to your business. Where you put your chamber in your business depends upon the ventilation. This will ensure that all of your clients are safe during their cryo sessions and thus avoid any potential mishaps that can happen with installation.
Before you start offering cryotherapy to your customers it is important to follow these safety guidelines for installation of the XR Cryo Chamber. A business owner should follow the typical set up here:
Here is a standard set-up:
- 1 to 3 liquid nitrogen dewars (top of diagram)
- XR Cryosauna with steps
A lot of things need prepping. The journey for getting your facility prepared for the XR cryo chamber consists of the steps below:
Location Requirements
Check local codes to identify any restrictions for this business or service. If you are not sure, please call our headquarters and we will help!
Will fit through most doors. A unit will fit through any normal office door. It rolls on wheels and can be moved by a single person. If necessary the chamber door can be removed to fit through non-standard size door openings.
Size is everything. A recommended room size would be (10’ x 10’). However, a room can be smaller if the Nitrogen dewars are stored in a separate room and connected through the wall.
The chamber and the liquid nitrogen dewar take up a 5’ x 5’ area.
An optional layout can have the dewars in a separate room, routing the hose through the wall.
The room where the dewars are stored would need a separate oxygen sensor.
Only one sensor is necessary. There is also an oxygen sensor built into the chamber. Therefore, no additional oxygen sensors are needed if the dewar is in the same room.
Strong WiFi. You may need a "wifi extender" if the router is far away from the chamber. These are fairly inexpensive.
A normal 110v, 10 amp outlet.
Select flooring materials carefully. Tile or linoleum is best for flooring although any hard-surface will be okay.
The base of the chamber will need to be level, and this is accomplished with adjustable height caster-wheels.
Does the chamber need to travel down a corridor hallway to enter the room? Contact us to discuss. We can send someone with our white glove service. Until then do not attempt to do anything that might cause damage.
Liquid Nitrogen Supplier
Cryo Innovations has a corporate relationship with many national gas suppliers. Most local suppliers are unfamiliar with using liquid nitrogen for cryotherapy. This is due to the fact that cryotherapy is a relatively young industry but it will not stop you from receiving nitrogen.
This is important because it helps to have trained help. We will send your address to the National representative and they will provide you with your Regional representative.
Firstly, the National supplier will prepare the Regional representative with the standard protocol for working with Cryo Innovation’s customers. This will ensure customer satisfaction.
Secondly, contacting your Regional representative and scheduling an initial site visit is required. Most companies are concerned about how they will roll the dewar in (e.g., whether there are stairs or not).
Thirdly, order 230 liter dewars from the Regional representative. It is recommended to start with two dewars. Here is the breakdown of costs to help with your budget:
Each Dewar costs (~$60/mo to rent).
Each Dewar refill costs ($100-$150 per fill).
This comes out to $5/session.
Request a 50 psi Pressure Relief Valve (PRV) from your representative for each liquid nitrogen dewar. They will install this on the dewar for you.
Finally, pay attention to any contracts you are presented with. We recommend signing 1 or 2 year contracts.
Air Circulation
If your gas representative recommends air circulation modifications to your facility, follow the steps below:
If a fan is required it will need to exhaust to the outside. A common bathroom-style fan is often sufficient.
Fan Size: 1CFM per 1 square foot of room size: Example: 100 square feet = 100 CFM.
Contact for additional aid: Home Depot - Grainger - Lowe's
Look for a low “SONE” rating. The lower the sone of the fan the QUIETER it is.
The customer is responsible to contact a contractor to install the exhaust fan properly. This is usually about $150 to $200 dollars.
AND FINALLY: It is not recommended to install the fan directly above the cryo chamber. If it is directly above the chamber it will pull nitrogen out of the top of the chamber and into the client’s face. A better setup is to have the fan on a wall or ceiling area away from the chamber.
Setting up a location for cryotherapy is a crucial step early in the process. All of the steps should be followed accordingly. Obviously every location is different and will require varying methods of installation. Overall, a good installation is vital to the start of any good business. Everything rises and falls on that. One will see their business improve markedly. Specifically gym and salon owners as well as their clients will benefit straightaway.
Your success, is our success!
